This blue millefiori necklace is handmade with colorful vintage Japanese tombo beads. The round and tube-shaped lampwork beads were made by artisans in Japan in the 1960s-1970s. Also known as tombo dama, they are a type of millefiori bead. Each one has a multicolor floral pattern, and each one is unique with slight variations in shape and size. I used a vintage necklace with a similar pattern of tube and round tombo dama as my inspiration. I love how the shapes create a slight geometric feel in contrast to the floral pattern of the beads.
The necklace has a silver-plated pewter hook & eye clasp and is 18 inches long.
